Under general direction of the General Counsel, the Paralegal will provide paralegal services in support of the Contracts Management department in furtherance of procurement and contracting activities. This position will provide paralegal support regarding contract review, management of the contract database to ensure compliance with all documentation requirements; support the procurement process according to the District Procurement Code and ensure procurement policies and procedures are adhered to; provide guidance to internal and external customers regarding procurement and contracting issues; assist with FOIA related Public Record Requests. While this position will support Contracts Management, as part of the Legal Services department, from time to time, this position will be required to work on projects directly supporting the needs of Legal Services. Secondarily, this position will also provide support to the Managed Care Contracting department as needed.

Qualifications:

Requires an Associate's degree in Paralegal studies or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work. Requires experience in a contracting environment with a strong emphasis on reviewing a wide variety of contracts that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Prefer experience in a public agency in dealing with product, service and/or software based contracts. Requires Paralegal certificate. Advanced Paralegal certification in Contracts Administration / Contracts Management preferred. Requires understanding of contract terms and conditions; familiarity with the application of legal review of contracts in a health care setting. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Requires attention to detail and excellent organizational, writing and verbal skills. Must be versed in contract life-cycle management. Must have effective time management, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with multiple levels of senior management. Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
