Under the direction of the Central Sterile Manager this position inventories, dispenses, orders, tracks and maintains PAR levels of patient care equipment and supplies utilizing computer and laser data terminals. Works independently but cohesively with multiple departmental disciplines. Accumulates data for reports that reflect utilization and location of equipment and identifies ownership versus rental equipment. Maintains identification database of Patient Care Equipment utilizing a bar code system that is integrated with the serial number for each item.


Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Experience required as a Central Sterile Technician with extensive knowledge of surgical instruments, surgical procedures, medical terminology, decontamination, sterilization and infection control that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Prefer five (5) years prior experience as a Central Sterile Tech. Completion of a Central Sterile Program is preferred. Preferred CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification. Must have strong computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail). Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English. Must have knowledge of patient care equipment, central sterile reprocessing, surgical instruments and sterilization process.
