Job Details:
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Director Pharmacy, assists in meeting the responsibilities for all psychiatric activities at Desert Vista and Psychiatric Annex of Maricopa Integrated Health System Department of Pharmacy. Assumes role of Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) at Desert Vista and is responsible for meeting all requirements for the Rules and Regulations of the Arizona Pharmacy Act. Manages all pharmacy related psychiatric activities including duties and responsibilities of a registered pharmacist. Functions as a therapeutic consultant to nursing and medical staff. Trained in general use of pharmacy computer systems. Performs special projects as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.


    Requires a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy (advanced degree, Pharm. D. preferred). Must have one (1) year inpatient hospital experience and three (3) years associated with behavioral/psychiatric health. Accredited psychiatric residency training program preferred. Requires current pharmacy licensure in the State of Arizona. Individual will posses demonstrated customer service skills and a positive work attitude. Must demonstrate management and leadership abilities. Must possess good organizational, problem solving, and computer skills. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of contacts. Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly pharmacy system software, Microsoft applications and Pyxis. Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
