Our History

Located in beautiful Phoenix, Arizona, Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS) is a world-renowned teaching hospital--one of the largest in Arizona. We're nationally recognized for our excellence in critical care, including emergency and intensive care treatment for adults, children and newborns; we're also home to a major regional burn center and a leading children's hospital. We are true stewards of our community.

Maricopa Medical Center

A full-service, 522-bed critical care hospital that sees nearly 20,000 inpatient admissions every year. The hospital features advanced medical services including burn care, pediatric and adult emergency care, and has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report in its report on "America's Best Hospitals" for excellence in respiratory disorders, urology, medical care, education and research.

The Largest Teaching Hospital in the Valley

We're a premier training center for the nation's physicians. Our medicine, surgery, pediatrics and ob/gyn programs, in particular, contribute to the body of knowledge of patient care.

The Arizona Burn Center

Is a nationally renowned, regional burn center serving adults and children (the 2nd largest in the nation).

Partners in Excellence

The University of Arizona College of Medicine ' Phoenix, is the primary academic affiliate for MIHS. This affiliation will advance teaching and training of medical students and provide coordinated education and research for residency and fellowship programs.

A Level 1 Trauma Center and Emergency Center

One of five in Maricopa County, the Trauma Center cares for a wide range of critical injuries. About 50,000 patients receive urgent and emergency care in the center each year.

Arizona's Children Center

A level 1 pediatric trauma unit open 24/7, and a level III NICU.

Labor and Delivery

A modern 20-room labor and delivery suite awaits prospective parents with all the comforts of home in state-of-the-art surroundings. Approximately 5,000 babies are born at Maricopa Medical Center each year.
