Job Details:
  • The Chief Financial Officer reports to the Chief Executive Officer of the Maricopa Integrated Health System with dotted line responsibilities to the Vice President of Health Plans. The purpose of this position is to direct the integrated health system's financial resources.


    Requires a Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work. Requires ten to fifteen (10-15) years of progressive experience in Health Care Financial Administration, business administration or an equivalent degree with a minimum of five (5) years as a Chief Financial Officer in a hospital or health system. Certified Public Accountant. This position requires considerable knowledge of the following: generally accepted accounting principles; financial and statistical reporting requirements; federal, state and local regulations; licensure and accreditation requirements; experience in managed care contracting including full risk capitation; good knowledge and experience in health care management of receivables, billing and collections; working knowledge of Medical Records functions and processes; working knowledge of health information systems; extensive experience in coordination and management of staff and departments. Problem Solving: Situations, issues or problems differ considerably from week to week and may be unusual or take time to define. They are addressed by referring to known procedures, standards and general directions provided by the CEO. The incumbent has the latitude to consider which among diverse procedures should be followed and in what sequence, to achieve necessary job results. The incumbent has to deal with issues or problems that often require assessment, reasoning and detailed analysis before coming up with an approach or solution. The search for solutions may be accomplished quickly, but often requires assessment and analysis based on generally accepted accounting principles, standards or approaches defined by management. Planning and End Results: The job holder must develop plans that establish objectives, allocate accountabilities and resources and design timetables. The end result is being individually accountable for directly achieving measurable operating results or managing divisions with accountability for achieving operating or functional results. Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
